About Us:
We’re opening an exciting new restaurant at the beautiful Mayne Island Resort, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated General Manager to lead our team from day one. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a brand-new dining experience in one of the Gulf Islands’ most scenic and welcoming communities.
Position Overview:
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, with a focus on exceptional guest experiences, team leadership, operational efficiency, and financial performance. You’ll work closely with ownership and the culinary team to establish the restaurant’s identity, culture, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations

Hire, train, and manage front-of-house staff

Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and quality standards

Monitor and manage labour costs and cost of goods sold (COGS)

Create and maintain schedules, inventory systems, and service protocols

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
-
Build a strong and positive team culture that reflects the values of the resort

Provide exceptional customer service and resolve guest concerns promptly

Plan and coordinate special events and large bookings to drive sales and entice new guests

Engage with the local community and seek out opportunities to participate and support local initiatives, sports teams, fundraisers, and community events.
Qualifications:

Previous experience in a restaurant management role (2+ years preferred)

Strong leadership and team-building skills

Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, inventory, and cost controls

Passion for hospitality and customer service

An understanding of operating a seasonal business and the flexibility to ramp up and down staffing levels to maintain labour goals while balancing guest experience

Ability to work in a remote island environment and support seasonal business needs

Current valid Food Safe and Serving It Right certifications
