We’re excited to announce the launch of a brand-new restaurant at the Mayne Island Resort, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Southern Gulf Islands. Our vision is to create a vibrant, locally-inspired, upscale-casual dining experience for guests and islanders alike. We’re looking for a passionate and creative Chef to lead our kitchen and help bring this vision to life.

The Opportunity:

As our Head Chef, you’ll play a central role in developing and executing the menu, managing kitchen operations, and building a strong team. This is a unique chance to be part of something new from the ground up and showcase your creativity.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a fresh, seasonal menu with a focus on local west coast ingredients

  • Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory, and ordering

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff

  • Monitor food quality, safety, and cleanliness standards

  • Manage food and labour costs to meet set targets.  Stay up to date with fluctuating market prices and food trends

  • Collaborate with ownership on menu creation, specials, and special events

  • Ensure an efficient, positive, and respectful kitchen environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership kitchen role (e.g., Sous Chef or Head Chef)

  • Red Seal certification or equivalent experience preferred

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Passion for local, sustainable cuisine

  • Ability to work full-time with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Experience in food costing and labour management is a strong asset
